Huge thanks go to Judy Tilbury, a regular supporter of Headway Sussex, who has now raised over £7500 by making and selling face masks. Judy has been making the masks since the first lockdown, sometimes spending over 12 hours a day at her sewing machine. Having worked for 46 years as a dressmaker and curtain maker Judy has lots of suitable fabric so has produced a wonderful variety of colourful and interesting masks.
As well as enjoying sewing and embroidery, Judy is a keen swimmer and, in the past, has raised large sums for the charity through sponsored swims. She is very much looking forward to getting back to the swimming pool, meanwhile her sewing machine is keeping her occupied!
Judy supports Headway Sussex in memory of her son Mathew and husband Roy who both lost their lives due to a brain injury. 2020 was a very poignant year for Judy as it was the 24th anniversary of Mathew’s death and he was just 24 years old when he died.
Between face masks Judy has also completed projects for family and friends including a birth sampler for her new great-granddaughter in Canada. Judy is hoping to be able to get out to Canada in the not-too-distant future to meet the new arrival, her first great-grandchild!
We all hope that can happen soon and send enormous thanks to Judy for all her support.
