Today marks the 40th London Marathon, but Headway is already looking ahead to next year, and are very pleased to announce our place at the 2021 London Marathon. Like so many other charities, we’ve had an extremely tough year without being able to hold any fundraising events.
We were lucky enough to secure a place at this year’s marathon, but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this year it will be run in a very different way compared to the 39 previous events. This year, only the elite runners will come together in London to compete.
So we’re already looking forward to 3rd October 2021, when we will take our place at the prestigious event – the first time the charity has ever secured a place! And we’re delighted that a local man, the wonderful Sadjad, will be running the 41st London Marathon on behalf of Headway.
Sadjad has seen first hand the effects of brain injury, after one of his family members suffered a brain injury as a result of a stroke: “When I found out about Headway East Sussex I wanted to make sure others were aware of it and to support the brilliant work it does for brain injury survivors.”
“I am running London Marathon to raise money for Headway East Sussex to continue to support brain injury survivors to rebuild their lives.”
Given the difficult year we’ve had, along with many other charities, we’re asking supporters and the wider community to get behind us, and the man who will be running on our behalf to raise much needed funds for the charity! We’ll be keeping you up to date on how the training is going, so look out for updates on social media and the ways you can help and show your support.
