August Update for the Headway community | clients and family carers

Gradual restart

We are now working towards being able to offer people face to face support again which is really good news. We’re planning to start up gradually with some dates in September. This will be alongside our Keeping in Touch service which has been in place throughout coronavirus lockdown. As soon as we have a date to offer we will let people know individually.

Staff will provide some more face to face support in the community outdoors, indoors and online, including at home where it is assessed to be safe. We will be super-careful and this step by step approach will enable us to confidently welcome people back, firstly to some small group support at Newick and in Brighton.

Clients tell us they really value friendship and being together in a safe environment and say how important it is to be with staff and other people who understand and care.

An increasing number of new people are also turning to us for support but there is a huge drop in our income. We have a fundraising appeal starting and plan to introduce a Headway membership arrangement.

Using Zoom online during lockdown has helped reduce feelings of isolation for many people and we will continue this where it works well. Our staff team will be speaking to everyone about practical arrangements as services gradually increase.

With best wishes to all users of Headway and our wider community. We are looking forward to seeing you again!
