Headway East Sussex has 3 places available for the 2019 Brighton Marathon which takes place on Sunday 14th April.
Why run for Headway East Sussex?
Brain injury does not discriminate; it can happen in seconds to anyone. Injuries to the brain are typically caused by strokes, tumours, accidents through sport or in the workplace, accidents or by assault. In East Sussex, there are 3000 new hospital admissions each year for brain injury and Headway East Sussex receives more than 150 new enquiries per year.
We provide a full range of day services, offering tailored rehabilitation and reablement programmes, as well as a variety of advice, counselling and outreach support services to those affected across the whole of East Sussex, including Brighton & Hove and the West Sussex border. We need to fundraise £100,000 per annum to provide our services and support to the brain injury community.
What am I raising money for?
Any money you raise will go towards the costs of running our gym for 2019. Our clients use the gym to help improve their balance, mobility, strength and core strength as part of their personal training programmes.
Knowing that you will be making a huge difference to the lives of the brain injury community will provide you with additional motivation and increase your focus when training gets tough and it will make completing the 10k even more rewarding.
You are very welcome to come and visit us at our Newick centre and learn more about what we do.
The race starts at 9.45am in Preston Park but you need to arrive at least an hour earlier to allow yourself time to find baggage trucks, warm up and use the toilet facilities ahead of the race starting.
